The Faculty of Computer Science endeavors to produce competent practitioners who can play a productive role in industry, academia and research. The faculty uses modern technologies to enhance the learning capabilities of the students and to provide them with a stimulating and challenging environment. Emphasis is put on the practical applications of engineering and computer science to meet the software and hardware needs of the global industry in general and Pakistani industry in particular. The Faculty offers programs in Computer Science and Information Technology leading to Bachelor’s (BS) and Master’s (MS / MPhil) degrees. The laboratories are equipped with extensive facilities to cater for undergraduate practical work. Lab Equipment is continuously upgraded to keep abreast with the latest technological developments. The faculty and administration are poised to turn the Institute into a centre of excellence while incorporating the specializations of computing technologies.
Objectives of the Program
Keeping abreast with technological advances in the information technology industry, the BS (Computer Science) program has been designed to fulfill the need for a rigorous and enriching academic experience. The program emphasizes the need for an overall development that includes exposure to an integrated series of courses in technology, methodology, physical sciences, liberal arts and management. Project-based software developments along with research assignments have also been emphasized. These courses seek to impart a broad and deep knowledge of theory, design and application of digital computers and information processing techniques. The curriculum has been designed to prepare students to serve the productive needs of Pakistan’s software industry.
